On truth-schemes for intensional logics

چکیده
In this paper we present a certain conception of truth for intensional logics. This conception is a natural generalization of the well-known relational semantics for intensional systems. It is based on some ideas set forth by Suszko and Wójcicki in the seventies. Let S = (S, f1, f2, ...) be a sentential language, i.e., S is an absolutely free algebra generated by an infinite set of sentential variables Var(S) =

Intensional logics without interative axioms
It may be that there is no way to axiomatize an intensional logic without recourse to one or more iterative axioms; then I call that logic iterative. But many familiar logics can be axiomatized by means of non-iterative axioms alone; these logics I call non-iterative. A frame, roughly speaking, is a partial interpretation for an intensional language. It provides a set 1, all subsets of which ar...
متن کاملTruth Values and Connectives in Some Non-Classical Logics
The question as to whether the propositional logic of Heyting, which was a formalization of Brouwer's intuitionistic logic, is finitely many valued or not, was open for a while (the question was asked by Hahn). Kurt Gödel (1932) introduced an infinite decreasing chain of intermediate logics, which are known nowadays as Gödel logics, for showing that the intuitionistic logic is not finitely (man...
متن کاملValidity in intensional languages: a new approach
Although the use of possible worlds in semantics has been very fruitful and is now widely accepted, there is a puzzle about the standard definition of validity in possible-worlds semantics that has received little notice and virtually no comment. A sentence of an intensional language is typically said to be valid just in case it is true at every world under every model on every model structure ...
متن کاملProbabilistic Logic: Many-valuedness and Intensionality
The probability theory is a well-studied branch of mathematics, in order to carry out formal reasoning about probability. Thus, it is important to have a logic, both for computation of probabilities and for reasoning about probabilities, with a well-defined syntax and semantics. Both current approaches, based on Nilsson’s probability structures/logics, and on linear inequalities in order to rea...
متن کاملConceptual Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
One of the main areas in knowledge representation and logic-based artificial intelligence concerns logical formalisms that can be used for representing and reasoning with concepts. For almost 30 years, since research in this area began, the issue of intensionality has had a special status in that it has been considered to play an important role, yet it has not been precisely established what it...
